The 7th National Youth Convention (FSNS 2022) was jointly organized by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), the All India Agricultural Students Association (AIASA) and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) at TNAU, Coimbatore, on 24 and 25 March 2022. The two-day convention was conducted in hybrid mode (online and offline) with the central theme “Food Security to Nutritional Security: Youth Perspective.” The event aimed to place youth at the forefront of discussions on transforming food systems to ensure both availability and nutritional quality. It served as a national platform to bring together young professionals, scientists, academicians, farmers, industry representatives, planners, and policymakers to deliberate on emerging challenges and innovative solutions for sustainable and nutrition-sensitive agriculture in India.
The convention featured a comprehensive academic program comprising plenary sessions, concurrent thematic sessions, poster and oral presentations, and a valedictory session. Discussions focused on the role of youth in strengthening food value chains, improving dietary diversity, promoting sustainable farming practices, and addressing nutritional challenges through science and technology. The event witnessed the participation of about 850 delegates from across the country, attending both virtually and in person. A total of 474 students submitted research abstracts, reflecting strong engagement from young researchers. Under seven thematic areas, a dedicated poster session was organized, with nearly 350 participants actively contributing. The 7th National Youth Convention successfully fostered knowledge exchange, leadership, and collaboration among the next generation of agricultural professionals, reinforcing the importance of youth-driven innovation for achieving food and nutritional security in the country.
Importantly, the Madras Agricultural Students’ Union (MASU) was a proud sponsor of the conference and extended significant monetary support to ensure its successful conduct. MASU’s contribution played a vital role in strengthening the event’s outreach, scientific value, and overall impact.
This international gathering served as a major platform to reinforce collaborations, inspire innovation, and contribute to a more resilient future for global agriculture.
